Sustainability & Biodiversity
Organic by vocation; our commitment to sustainability
In the field:
Cantina le Pietre has begun the transition period for certified organic agriculture, but in reality, our lands have always been cultivated with the utmost respect for nature, adopting only organic farming practices. Respect for nature and the symbiosis between vine and earth is a crucial principle for us.
Here are our commitments to sustainability in the field:
We believe that a healthy plant defends itself better in case of fungal attack, so we are advocates of agriculture that is based on a deep balance between plant and nature.
We do not use chemical fertilizers, at the end of the harvest we use the stems and grapeskin as natural and organic fertilizer for our vineyard.
A weather station helps us to carry out phytosanitary treatments only when strictly necessary.
Our vineyards and olive groves are grass-covered, this allows for a fundamental natural balance, and preserves biodiversity among the herbaceous species present, also helps regulate humidity, in fact in ours we do not use irrigation.
In the cellar:
In the winery there is the greatest respect towards the raw material, sustainability is also fundamental in the production and bottling processes.
Here are our commitments to sustainability in the winery:
From 2024, we have subscribed to an electricity supply produced from 100% renewable energy.
From 2023 on some wines we have adopted the Nomacorc Ocean cork, a cork produced with 100 percent Ocean Bound Plastics, which are recycled plastics from coastal and marine areas. A very important issue that allows us to protect the ocean. (Learn more >)
