Aria

Aria is our first white wine: a pure Viognier, born from a vineyard we began managing in 2023.

The soils of the Valdarno di Sopra, particularly those in our Reggello area, once formed the banks of a vast Pliocene lake that occupied the valley. This geological history led to the accumulation of lacustrine deposits: fossils, shells, quartz-rich sands, marls, and clays.

The result is a Viognier that is savory, balsamic, and complex, shaped also by a long aging period of at least 10 months on fine lees in stainless steel.

Appellation: Toscana IGT Bianco Viognier

The vineyard

The vineyard, located in Reggello and planted in 2000, is a 0.5-hectare parcel trained using the Guyot system.

Facing north, it enjoys good sunlight exposure while also benefiting from slight protection against the hottest hours of the day. The soil is rich in clay, galestro, and sandstone, typical of the Valdarno di Sopra.

Meticulous attention is given to every detail: manual work is preferred in order to preserve the delicate microcosm of beneficial fungi, insects, bacteria, and vines.

Vineyard management is aimed at maintaining the plant’s natural balance, avoiding any form of fertilization, topping, or invasive interventions.

The wine

Vinification places great emphasis on the fermentation phase, with minimal intervention to ensure the fullest expression of both the terroir and the grape variety.

Harvesting for our Aria takes place in multiple stages, from late August through mid-September, with a sequential picking of grapes at different levels of ripeness.

The various selections are fermented in open tanks after a short cold maceration lasting a few hours.

Around 20% of the must is fermented as whole berries with skin contact for approximately 7 days.

Each batch is then aged separately in stainless steel, with regular bâtonnage on the fine lees for at least 10 months.

The final blend of the different micro-vinifications is made shortly before bottling, followed by at least 6 months of bottle aging.
