Magnificat

Magnificat is Cantina le Pietre’s Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Cru, born from the vineyard planted in 2004 that carries the same name.

The first vintage released is 2023, but the wine is the result of continuous research that began with the first harvest in 2008.

A wine as dear to us as it is to acclaimed artist Erwin Wurm, who in 2022 created a bespoke label for a limited-edition series: the “Artist Label Box”

Magnificat fully embodies the elegance, structure, and freshness of Cabernet Sauvignon, combined with the unique character of our remarkable Valdarno di Sopra terroir.

Appellation: Toscana IGT Rosso Cabernet Sauvignon

First year commercialized: 2023

Annual production: 1000 bottles (750ml) each numbered

Bordolese di Magnificat, vino rosso toscano prodotto con Cabernet Sauvignon da Cantina le Pietre a Reggello, nel Valdarno di Sopra.

The vineyard

The vineyard, located in the municipality of Reggello and planted in 2004, is a 0.3 hectare plot cultivated with low-yielding French clones and narrow-row spacing.

Facing south, it benefits from full sun exposure. The soil is rich in clay, galestro, and sandstone, typical of the Valdarno di Sopra area.

Attention to detail is meticulous: manual work is prioritized in order to preserve the delicate microcosm of beneficial fungi, insects, bacteria, and vines.

The vineyard is managed to maintain the plant’s natural balance, avoiding any fertilization, trimming, or invasive practices.

The wine

Vinification places great emphasis on the fermentation phase, with minimal intervention to allow for the fullest expression of both the terroir and the grape variety.

The harvest for our Magnificat takes place in several stages, from mid-September to the end of October, with a staggered picking of grapes at different stages of ripeness.

Each selection, harvested in small batches of just a few dozen kilograms at a time, is fermented as whole berries without the addition of selected yeasts. Afterwards, each lot is aged separately in used French oak barriques for a minimum of 12 months.

The final blend of the various micro-vinifications is carried out just before bottling, followed by a further refinement in bottle for at least 6 months.
